My Friend Vinny “A”
We were in our teens when
I went fishing with Vinny “A.”
A fishing we would go.
Let’s check out the fish.
Whatayasay?
We were off to catch the big one,
catch the big one our fishing lines.
Vinny knew where to go –
We would go on the beach near
the “no fishing” signs."
Listen to the waves crashing!
Check out the sun sparkling on the surf.
Smell the salt air.
See the lightning in the distance.
Is there a greater place on earth?
Hey wait, something is nibbling on the line.
Reel it in. Here it comes.
It looks like a good one, it looks real fine.
Time flew by tick-tock-tick.
Then it started raining!
We better go home and get home quick.
We brought home the fish in his canary yellow Impala Chevrolet
Then we went home and checked out the female fish along the way.
We a good day! We had good time!
We lived to fish another day!
We had a lot of fun in those good ole' days back then.
But then we heard the news that our nation was at war.
It was Vietnam, and Uncle Sam was calling then.
We knew that we had to go but we did not know when.
So we went in and we grew up!
We grew up way too fast.
Vinny and I both served and did our time during the war,
A war that would seem to forever last.
We went our separate ways,
we did what we had to do.
We did what we were called for.
Vinny served with many others on the ground
and building roads among the maze.
I served by fixing jets, getting ammo to the flight-line
and in many other ways.
After much time had passed...
God placed us again in each others paths.
We are now both serving in Gods’ Mighty Army of Men!
We are fighting a dark enemy that will be defeated again and again.
We serve Christ Army and it will endure forever
and forever I will say...
"God Bless You My Friend Vinny!"
Your friend in Christ,
eternally I pray!
