God said "Let us search out and examine our ways"

G.I.Gurdjieff said "Know Thyself"

I flew within a private place
I had to unveil my inner face
What I saw convinced me
My goal was to be set free
To assure my immortality
Pursue the cause of liberty

Crying out inside my soul
The wish to be made whole
Not to have missing parts
No apathy alive in my heart
Being a friend to one and all
Even the ones who made me fall

Knowing that the greatest sin
Is to live with self as  kin
To blind oneself to others needs
Means we don't sow any seeds
Wasting  time on self alone
Leaves the soul dry as a bone

No matter what we may believe
Delve deep inside lest we deceive
Self-deception leads to heartache
Nothing works well if we're  fake
Knowing ourself facing what's true
Helps correct wrong things we do

When we take that inner journey
Unlock our soul with truths key
We need not fear what we  find
We have tools to renew our mind
Learning to arrange our  priority
To be useful members of society

Eileen,

"To thine own self be true" could apply here - but we can't do it alone, without Creator's help - excellent write!

So painfully honest...but the truth shall set you free.
Fear is so powerful and blinding it truly is an act of faith to take that inner journey.
Thank you for this wonderfully written, thought provoking examination of our inner selves!!

Eileen, this is full of truths and honesty...sowers of seeds do reap rewards in Heaven and we have to allow God to guide us in our walk in this life to achieve our journey in the right manner, and to forgive, feel compassion, listen, reach out to others, and allow God to use us in our society in whatever way He deems fit. Your words caused this reader to reach down deep and to search her soul and clean the dust out of the creases of my spirit. A beautiful most inspiring poem.

I find these two line so profound, as I know a few who live like this and do not relize that is what they are doing. This is a beautiful, touching poem, Eileen.

Hi Eileen
I know, it's been a long time since I posted -- a poem or a review -- but I am glad to be doing both now. Does my heart good to see that I recognize most or your reviews here. The line that caught me here -- "No apathy alive in my heart," powerful minimalist paradox!
I am writing almost constantly, but of a different kind. Surely, I've not abandoned poetry, by far; completions are far between times, though. Posted "Ode to Unsung Passings" yesterday.

ET, you write not only for believers and those full of hope, but also, between the lines are your thoughts to the wounded ones, the ones that only learned not to believe, or trust, or open their hearts.
Internal Interlude invite the late ones to do so.

the wisdom in these lines, alone, sums up the lack of some who have no compassion. What a shame is their lives.
Brava Eileen!
