Brother, I wait for the day we'll reunite...

Winds cling to me like a baby to its Mother,
stars shimmer as the moon shines in the firmament.
Death points its finger...enticing you to come,
I search the sky for you to give me a sign.

My love's as strong as the day you went away,
I ache to see your face and crooked smile.
I think I hear your voice in the distance,
run to see if I can see where it's coming from.

I wasn't prepared for you to not be here,
our time together wasn't long enough.
I loved you from the time you were a small lad,
not realizing I'd lose you in the prime of life.

There were songs we didn't get to sing,
camping trips we never got to take.
Things I wanted to say was left unsaid,
laughs left to echo like hyenas in the forest.

I miss you brother...you were special to me,
"no" one touched my heart like you did at times.
We were close from the day you were born,
I remember rocking and singing to you for hours.

I stand here alone as mist kisses my eyelids,
know it's you sending me a sign from above,
as your weeping tears blow in the wind,
awakening my soul you're here with me.

Brother, I wait for the day we'll reunite,
these fields of rubble are lonely and sad.
This rose's head hangs in loneliness,
petals are wilting as the color begins to fade.

in your poem. - Gene.

Barbara, this is really beautiful and bears similar thoughts to what I had after my brother died. Time does heal some of the pain, but we never forget how much we've lost. Blessings
