Pay attention to gentle breezes.

The silk sheers move back and forth
Like a spinnaker caught in a crosswind
The boat tacks to capture what it cannot see
Just as we go through life without a sail or mast
To hold us steady in the water amidst the storm
We flounder without a rudder to guide us
Tethered to our parents we navigate carefully
To capture the breeze that will slowly pull us away
From what is familiar, safe, and secure
To seek new horizons beyond our imagination
Oblivious to the storms that lay waiting
If only we learned that gentle breezes can be deceiving
Moving through life some drift aimlessly with the currents
While others hold onto the oar tightly to maintain control
Sometimes the wind dies and our dreams along with it
Often we steer recklessly through troubled waters
Hoping to capture one more exhilarating ride
That takes us beyond what is bland and banal
Look to the horizon and set sail for what is possible
Keep your eyes fixed and do not be distracted
By ego and pride that deflect our speed and direction
Seek the gentle breeze that pauses for reflection
As to why we are here at this moment in this place
For only then can we discern the true meaning of life

"We" each hold the key to our lives and it is up to us to keep our eyes forward and not become dismayed when disappointments come our way. Never look back but tread forward and we'll never lose our way. We've found life when we can accept things as they come our way and decide that life is full of trials and tribulations but it doesn't mean "we" have to shut down. Enjoyed!

It's a nice extended metaphor of life, and it's calming. I never thought about things that way.

You need always to go for it and seek out some excitement. Let go of yourself and enjoy life, for life is very short. Nothing ventured, nothing gained is a favorite saying of mine.
