The poem was written for my Mother. She taught me so much and I have so many wonderful and cherished memories. This is just one of many.

My gift to all of you for Mother's Day!

"Hi mom, how are you today?
Thought I'd call and see what you had to say."
Every morning it was just like that,
She'd call or I'd call and we'd have a little chat.
But Mom's not there anymore you see,
She went to heaven to save a place for me.
I'll miss all the things that we used to do,
But they’re deep inside me as if they were new.
The love we had was so special and good,
Never to be forgotten like an old piece of wood.
She was always around when things were rough,
And she never faltered when things got tough.
She taught me to bake when I was small,
And to cook up a storm as I grew tall.
When I get lonely and go to the phone,
I suddenly remember and feel so alone.
I get out her cookbook and open it up,
Look at her words written, add one more cup.
The tears come and go while I'm looking with pride,
But I love doing it, 'cause she's right by my side.
She's gone from this life to the heavens above.
She didn't go alone, she took my love.
Some day I know she'll be waiting for me,
At the Golden Gates we both will be.
No need for phones or any call,
'Cause MY MOM and I will have it all.

A most loving poem. I'm so glad you posted for Mother's very appropriate; our special time for honoring our Mothers, 'tho we think of them all year through. Such heart-felt thoughts, Bonnie.
