You appeared one day
From nowhere,
A friendly little border collie
Always eager to greet us
When we arrived home
With a madly wagging tail
And a happy grin;
Afraid of little,
You chased the thunder
From the sky
Until it became too loud,
Then you tried
To tear the doors down
To get inside.
You were a herder
Without a herd,
Totally useless
As a guard,
But priceless
As a friend;
You were
A kind, gentle, loving soul
Who didn't deserve the death
Forced upon you
By a heartless someone
Too stupid
To consider the broader impact
Of their decision
To kill bothersome chickens
With bread soaked in antifreeze;
Now you run free
Across rolling green pastures
With all those other pets
We've known and loved,
No doubt chasing frisbees
And munching on endless treats
Given by Those Who've Gone Before
Who now love you as we do.

How beautiful a tribute to a lovable little friend. My Sugarplum is a frisbee-loving little dog, too. I'm sorry for your loss.

A boy stuck one eye out of a dog with the sharp end of a wood stick, the dog bite his hand, not hard if we consider that his eye was punctured. The father of the boy demanded the dog destroyed.
The boy sadism scalated with is father "saying boys are boys"
That boy today is serving 25 to life for Murder One.
I am sure that little dog aprove.

You take my breath away with this piece. The heartache and the loss of a loved and cherished pet at the hands of someone cruel. This really hurts deeply and I am so very sorry this even happened....

Be always safe,
Karen
