Eighth in the ‘Ed’ Series,

‘When We Ancient Eds Were-’

My Ed Photo Albums Go Back a Long Ways,

And a Fond Memory or Two, They Always Stir

Well, alas, here we three old brother Eds were again

Broke and busted, and now kicked out of old Mexico

As we once again headed north, on an old freight train

Edvard said, “Cheer Up! Now, to the Klondike, we go!”

“To the Klondike?!” quickly screamed Jersey Ed

What the hell are we gonna do, way up there??!!”

“Well, my little brother, there we’re gonna find us,

A real king’s ransom in glorious Gold! Oh, Yes, Sir!”

I, Pee Wee Ed, quickly reminded my brother Edvard

That the old Klondike Gold Rush had ended years ago

“Ha! Do you really think they found it all, little brother,

You two have to start trusting me. To the Klondike, we go!”

So, we soon found ourselves workin as Ed deck hands

On a really decrepit old freighter, a sailin for old Skagway

We saved up enough money, for our meager ‘Ed’ grubstake

And found ourselves on the banks of Bonanza Creek one day

Alas, that one bright day, turned into so many gruelin months

Of workin that old panned out creek, from sunup to sundown

We were freezin, losin weight, and we had just about given up

When one frigid mornin, Edvard yelled, “Eureka! It is found!”

Well, we three brothers Ed quickly hiked on in to Dawson City

But the amount of gold in that one nugget, didn’t get us very far

After three hot soapy baths, shaves, and one mighty fine big meal

We found ourselves with enough cash left, to buy a drink at the bar

“So, just what the hell are we three Eds gonna do now??!!”

Jersey Ed and I both said in unison, to our old Brother Edvard

“Oh, just shut up, and drink your drinks, you two Ed numbskulls;

Bein the brains in this here ancient Ed outfit, is mighty damned hard.”

And, Alas, On, and On, We Three Ancient Eds, Would Go;

But Just Lookin Through My Old Photo Albums, Tickles Me So
