Sunrise, Sunset

© By Kathy Armijo

The sun comes up each day

What we do with it is ours to say

Stay in bed.  Meet the challenges with dread

Better yet, forge ahead

We must each decide

How to live life’s ride

Enjoy the ups and downs

Wear a frown or be a clown

Each of us has the ability to be strong and good

Regardless if our intentions are misunderstood

At day’s end, there may be some regrets

Yet, relish life’s successes.  Enjoy life’s rosettes

For there will come a time

When our life has reached its sunset

Our breath will be never more

Still, we will safely travel to another shore

Until that time

Swing from every vine

Live life fully

You know … It is perfectly okay to be a bit dopey

"Swing from every vine", is verbalization I had not previously toyed with. It is a great line. Wish it were mine. Being a bit dopey is the psyche's ploy that permits us to enjoy, when we might otherwise take ourselves too seriously and frown. And speaking of enjoyment, your poem brings me much. Thanks for an uplifting perspective. May peace be always with you. JMW

Love this my friend, your write flows smoothly and with ease. Enjoyed the concept as well...for each day is ours to do with what we desire...we cannot go back and relive yesterday, so we must make the most of each day...well done indeed!
