Ninth in the ‘Ed’ Series,

‘When We Ancient Eds Were-’

My Ed Photo Albums Go Back a Long Ways,

And a Fond Memory, They Don’t Always Stir

“These guys are lumberjacks, and they’re OK?

Why, they sleep until Noon, and then, they play!”

A Canadian Mounty

I guess that I should have seen it coming

That epic night in the bar, when Edvard sang

Alas, he had now decided we were lumberjacks

And through the forest, his lumberjack song rang

And I guess that I should have really figured it out

That before long, it would be I, Brother Pee Wee Ed

Who was expected to do all the actual lumberjack work

Before Noon, my two brothers never even got out of bed

And each and every day now, after they ate their lunch

They would both rush out of the cabin, down to the bar

And I, their extremely weary little ‘worker bee’ brother

Would gaze down at them, from a forested hillside, a far

Old Brother Edvard had convinced The Lumberjack Saloon

To host an epic ‘Karaoke Singing Gala’ each and every day

And old Jersey would somehow badger old Snidely Whiplash

Into giving him some more milkweed to puff, down by the bay

And I myself, now spending a lot of time alone in the deep forest

Soon grew to love it so much, I vowed to never cut down one tree

Very thankfully, our Brother Ed lumberjack days were short-lived

Soon, we would begin a cross-country trek, to the land of Mr. Fee

“And Good Riddance To These Ancient Ed Lumberjack Boys,

This neck of the woods can now return to blissful peace and joy!”

Canadian Mounty Dudley Do-Right

And I Sure Hope Dear Old Mom Doesn’t Read This One

Poor Pee Wee, them other eds are always taking advantage of him. Glad you quit cutting down trees because I know if a Pee Wee had really put his mind to it, he would have devastated the continent.....Jerry

I especially liked this poem--Lumberjacks--fits right in with what I did all day; cutting down trees. Actually, I cut them about shoulder high so they will hopefull grow back with new foilage that isn't so gangly and wild looking. Humorous and enjoyable write.
