Here I am once again,

Holding to his memory tight,

Having horrible flashbacks,

Of that tragic September nite.

Things were going so well,

Just to be with him was great,

It so quickly turned to hell,

I keep wishing it was fake.

The last words i said to him,

Was " John please don’t go",

I know that he was scared,

But he did’t want me to know.

The last words he said to me,

Was" It’ll all be okay",

Never could I have imagined,

That he’d never see another day.

As I sat helplessly,

Waiting for a call to come in,

I prayed for their safety,

Thinking I would see him again.

A ring and I flew to the hospital,

Stood at the door as it would open,

John never did appear,

But I just kept hoping.

The detective called me to his office,

And said that John was gone,

I said" please don’t say this,

Someone tell me that he’s wrong!".

I still can not see,

How anyone could do this,

There will never be,

An excuse for this cruelness.

..John wasn’t just a man,

He was no less than pure gold,

Unafraid to take a stand,

Why’d he have to be so bold.

I wouldn’t have thought less of him,

If he would’ve only ran,

But he had to protect them,

Thought it was his job as a man.

I am so sorry Lord,

For my heart is filled with hate,

Help me cause i do look forward,

To meeting John past that pearly gate.

He’s got brown hair and eyes so true ,

The most giving heart you’ll ever see,

I know he’s somewhere there with you,

Please give him a hug for me.

Tell him that we’re all okay,

But I wasn’t ready for him to go,

I’ll talk to him when I pray,

I love him....please let him know.
