let's be calm for at least a while.

War and Peace

It is the high winded gust
turns nodding treetops into
yarned-haired clowns madly
trying to shake out the knots.

The lean little trees are tickled,
not fancy like rubber gymnasts;
more like plastic spoons ready to snap in
newly cupped ice cream.

Bending violently on tempest days,
the forest dumps its frightened branches;
newly hatched leaves are slammed into
mud never to see the light of day.

Not unusual - warrior trees
fighting the surging storm.
Oh, for a simple breeze on a maple
shading romantics arm over arm.

Stay waving, our trees
and whispering, our wind;
let lovers have their time;
too soon might come the war.

If storms are war, peace is...perhaps two lovers, hand in hand walking on wet grass oblivious of the rain?
