Man and woman and the emotional turmoil that persists long after the physical has taken flight.

 I lay beside you
 caressed your naked skin
No visible secrets
 but those kept within
I soothed your brow
and touched your hand
I know you were hoping for
me to understand
But you left no clues
in knowing you
Just vacant possession
Of the night
To be gone after the dawn
With the onset of sunlight
To illuminate your fears
Of commitment
and getting close
Yet it was my heart
that you chose
To chance to fate
And break our next date
No explaination
You weren't even sorry
And didn't worry
That I cared
Or felt hurt
Your words were
short and curt
Like you were answering
a nuisance phone call
Because you had got it all

 or so you thought

There was so much
More to me

Than my nakedness
A depth that even you

Could not reach
just feel momentarily
But that isn't what you
wanted to see
or know
so you let go
Of perhaps the only one
who could love you so
In your nakedness

I watched you sleep
and I said to myself
This one i cannot keep
He is too beautiful
For even me
And I have never
had such luck as to have
someone who truly wanted me
More than his bedmate
Someone whom i could share
An equal desire

With whom i could resonate
For all eternity
Forever going in circles
Where someone else declares
love and desire
but knows of neither
For love is more than just
A passing whim
And i have felt this for some time
But then i knew you could never be mine
And I am too afraid to go back
If it were so

In case you were to hurt me again
So i guess you will never know
For you didn't give us a chance to grow.
And in faux love's nakedness
I have finally let go
