All Wrapped Up

a friend brought up this subject and it got me thinking....

All Wrapped Up

Some folks seem to immerse themselves,

In one particular facet of life or another.

Their whole lives revolving around,

That one thing, the focus of their existence.

Just think, there are those whose every day,

Revolve around raising show animals,

Imagine a life revolving around rabbits, for instance

The raising, grooming, feeding, and housing.

And vacations! All planned in relation to,

And in timing with, the rabbit fairs and shows.

With a blue ribbon will come prestige,

And inner pride for a job well done.

But the focus could just as easily be:

Quilting, soccer, rock climbing or wine making,

Hot-rod cars, or maybe even the vintage models.

With all life’s energy going in these directions.

Just funny to me to think of this,

And review what it is my life revolves around.

Interesting how we choose our existences,

How we focus our energies and spend our days.

Karen, this poem is a classic because your words are so true. As youngsters we are busy experiencing many new things, looking for that one thing in which to focus upon. We try things, learn how to master them well, get bored and move on to new pursuits until we find that one thing that fills up that empty hole inside. Excellent write.

Interesting how we choose our existences,
How we focus our energies and spend our days.

It truly is, and thank God we are not all the same. Life truly holds many things for many different kinds of people.
