“… Of The Pauper a Queen”

Miss Lady

There she is

Just a lady and simply

Believably a queen

Doing what she must and all she must

To make her domain real

Troubles around ever corner

So thick

It’s too hard to breathe

And growing up

Has never been simple

Isn’t this adult hood a bitch

Sitting alone in norms

By choice

But so much is a whim

Dinner becomes the highlight

Something different

That makes the day worth living

And the nights become so cold

And the wicked wind of loneliness

And penetrates thick skin

And the queen sits on her throne

Looking without

But only living within

Such is the price of the strong

Such is the burden of those willing

Such is the way of the conqueror

Nothing is easy

And even nothing ever is

And even breathing becomes a labor

And even thinking

Hurts from deep within

And the choices made

And decisions once sound

Just crumble

As the silence sets in

But such is the way of the strong

But such is the way of a true queen

And as the morning dawns

And the sun finally comes around

She shines

A true
