Limerick War

Ah, Wendy Cooper, a brand new AD member and friend, has had the audacity to challenge me to a Limerick War. She loves limericks and will be publishing her own seperately. Seen here is the opening salvo! No winners or losers on this one -- just good word jazz and fun for both of us. Let the jousting begin!

I have not a clue where this one came from. It just spun off the top of my silly head ...

There once was a fairy named Larry
his actions were always contrary
he'd give you a frown
with his head upside down
the effect was really quite scary.

This one is a construct and it is for Wendy and Dayton. They have been married forever. In my whole life, I have only encountered three long-term married couples who were still head-over-heels in love with each other. There was Johnny and JoAnne, friends when I was growing up. There was Hal and Doris, within the past 20 years. And now there is Wendy and Dayton. This is for them.

Dayton and Wendy are One
she the moon to his rising sun
they never are sad
when life is bad
smiling is so much more fun.

I may add more as this dire battle rages on. You know, we need to get some new world leaders who will toss out the knives and guns and grenades. Replace them all with poets, and let's have limerick wars!

There once was a fellow named Ted
Who did poetry straight from his head
On AD he's a hit
Ideas got lit
ANd then tired he went to bed.

So whose side of this war am I on :-)

Love these!!! They are so much fun to read and write. When I taught school, the kids enjoyed limricks more than any thing else. Keep up the battle--never give up the pen.

Liking to challenge each other
there's a lot of gaga people in AD,
but they are never sad
because they all can laugh
at the jokes of a man we call just Ted.

I love to read all you write,
It isn't hard and there's no fight,
I read each word one at a time,
Where they rhyme perfect with each line,
Each line fit in rhyme so tight.

I guess you got us involved Ted, great reading, thanks for sharing.

This should prove interesting...lol
There once was a handsome dude named Fee
Who loved to be happy and free
He wrote poems on the den
with his electronic pen
and said that his friends were the key...

Beautiful tribute to Dayton and Wendy.
I think what you said about the world leaders (NERDS) is true also.
God Bless,
Lew
