You act like you are noble

A martyr in your suffering

That the sting of loneliness

Eludes you

That the lonely nights

When you ache to be touched

Do not hurt you

That the words you are

So carelessly flogged with

Do not break you

That the cruel words

Do not bewilder you

Wide eyed and silently shocked

In my heart, I know this to be true

I have lived it, as have you

Because our paths never crossed

We took the roads most travelled

And tried not to notice the difference

You have kept up  an impossible march

Simply because you picked a path

Full of rocks and  thorns

Never really daring to notice

You can always turn

At a fork in the road

Always new paths to be found. Sometimes the road less traveled is best. But find your pathway and go on it. You never know when your life is turned around for the better.
