My friend died today, in a hospital ward far away
And I in sorrow went to the shore and watches the waves rise and fall
And I thought of the time I had known her.
I remembered the laughter, the picnics, the fun
I remembered her singing and the joy of her song.
The waves saw my tears fall, the beach heard my weeping,
Then I returned home where all else were sleeping.
Now when the memories come
I remember the beach and the wash of the foam.
So till we meet in a bright, distant dawning.
I'll remember her life and that quiet time of mourning.
