Beach Memories

Take a quiet place to order memories, especially when someone close has died.

My friend died today, in a hospital ward far away

And I in sorrow went to the shore and watches the waves rise and fall

And I thought of the time I had known her.

I remembered the laughter, the picnics, the fun

I remembered her singing and the joy of her song.

The waves saw my tears fall, the beach heard my weeping,

Then I returned home where all else were sleeping.

Now when the memories come

I remember the beach and the wash of the foam.

So till we meet in a bright, distant dawning.

I'll remember her life and that quiet time of mourning.

Living by the sea, I can well appreciate your response to such overwhelming sadness and the need to breathe and let it out and share with something that will just absorb your pain and numbness. This is beautifully expressed, Olita. Your oneness with both your friend and the ocean seems to wrap and enfold all of space, time and feeling. Bless you and may the ocean all bring you solace and peace within your need to grieve. Kate xx

...to remember the beauty of friend...upon an ocean of memories... finds the waves...all the hellos and goodbyes...to be the waves of friendship you shared...until you meet again.
these are beautiful words you have penned Oleta...
