America United

September 11th was like any other day...

Who could have known what was headed our way.

The sky was clear, the sun shining bright,

what came next was a horrible sight.

Like a missile it came, streaking on through the sky...

we thought it was low and would just fly on by.

What we then saw would shatter a nation,

and lead all the terrorists into celebration.

Then like a nightmare our fears all came true ...

the missile was a plane, that killed 92.

More lives it would take, how many unknown...

Flight 11 had perished, like a bomb it was blown.

We witnessed in shock, what eventually came after...

Flight 175, what a disaster.

It like the other, flew low and steadfast...

Hit the South tower, another deadly blast.

"Who could have done this? Take so many lives?"

This flight from Boston, killed 95.

As huge plumes of smoke filled lower Manhattan....

We could not have known, what next would happen.

Flight 77, it held 64...

Headed straight for the Pentagon.. Oh God please, no more!

Then like the others with terrorists flying....

Would kill many others, afraid not of dying.

What can we say about flight 93?

45 people, at a terrorists mercy.

"We're all going to die!" Tom said to his wife....

"Four of us will do something to save many lives."

This plane too went down, though not where directed....

Those four brave men, knew what was protected.

Unselfish they were, regaining control...

Less lives to save many, to lessen the toll.

How to explain what happened then...

One nation divided, worked together again.

Police and firefighters from every station,

to help in the crisis that came to our nation.

Relentless they were in attempt to save others...

They stood by each other, like brother to brother.

Physicians and nurses, donated their skills...

They waited on survivors and word of those killed.

The families stood waiting, wondering and crying....

their pictures and candles and American Flags flying.

What gates of Hell were opened that day?

What can be done? What do we say?

Innocent lives, that day were taken,

all of their souls will not be forsaken.

For buildings may crumble and bodies may bleed...

America will stand tall,

On that they must heed.

Our cities, our country, our nation stands tall.

Like the flag ever flying, we shall not fall!
