Has America lost the merging bond via the melting pot
To become a separation pot—a potpourri stew of nationalities
Of individualistic groups
Deaf to American origins,
Divergent nonconformists, mavericks, lone wolves,
Foreign communities spotting the landscape
Confusing language structures, complex
Communication a puzzle
Forums of split beliefs
Laws that tear down cultural structures
Rules that deny rights and freedoms?
Change the sheets for the potpourri stew
Take a back seat to tradition
Dismantle the true foundation for patriotism
While Americans flounder
With a faltering nation all too unfamiliar
To the traditional country that was once known
As the United States of America.

|I AM SO GLAD TO SEE THAT THIS WORK WAS WRITTEN A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO. I AM SURE BY NOW, YOU REALIZE THAT 'WE' OURSELVES-AMERICAN CITIZENS, WERE ALREADY WELL ON OUR WAY TO DESTROYING OUR GREAT NATION, LONG BEFORE THE BOATS LANDED AT ELLIS ISLAND AND BROUGHT FORTH TO THIS NATION THE 'GLUE' THAT KEPT US TOGETHER AND MADE US STRONGER. THINK ABOUT IT...FROM THE NORTH TO THE SOUTH, FROM THE EAST TO THE WEST...THINK ABOUT THE 'MAVERICKS' & NONCONFORMISTS THAT WERE ALREADY HERE, AND THE 'RULES' THAT DENIED RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS WERE AS EVIDENT AS A BABBOONS BOTTOM... AMERICA WAS WHAT IT WAS LONG BEFORE THE INFLUX OF FOREIGNERS...IF WE ARE GOING TO BLAME ANYBODY FOR OUR PRESENT CONDITION, LET US BLAME OURSELVES, BUT I AM PROUD, THAT IN SPITE OF OUR VERY 'SMELLY' PAST, WE ARE STILL STANDING AS A STRONG, LEADING NATION THAT, AT LEAST, 'TRIES' TO DO THE RIGHT THING. AND IT IS OUR DIVERSE POPULATION THAT HAS 'EDUCATED' US ON OUR SOCIOLOGICAL DEFECITS AND EXPOSED THE 'NEED' TO BLEND RATHER THAN CONDEMN. GOD STARTED THIS NATION, GOD HAS KEPT THIS NATION AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, BECAUSE WE ARE THE LAND OF 'FREEDOM', BECAUSE WE HAVE OPENED OUR GATES TO SO MANY AND BECAUSE WE ARE THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA...THE MELTING POT.
THANKS FOR SHARING, LOVE AND BLESSINGS, JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

|Yes I think we have lost many of our traditional values, pride and moral ethics. Our standars have changed , many not for the better.. Great thinking write!......M|

Well said! Yesterday's settlers took pride in becoming a part of this nation. Today's settlers are set on changing the nation to meet their needs. Suddenly we're trying to adapt in our own land. Hugs~

|This wonderful land has not seen unity for decades. We have all been divided into more groups that I care to mention, finding only disillusionment to be living in a land where we are taught no one really belongs anymore, nice piece....

|A person has had to live through it, to discribe it so vividly and you have mastered the words. I have witnessed the aftermath of WW1, and the great depression, WW11. No outsider has has been able to dent the integrety of this nation of people. However, now we are letting it crumble from within. nice job.|

|You describe the atmosphere of the times extremely well, and show just how confused the populace of this nation has become! I pray daily that we will use care and wisdom when we make our choices.

|Torn, and broken, and floundering - that sure sadly sounds like our once great nation today - and I sadly wonder if we will ever get back on the right track.|
