A Place To Stay

Most poetry is 'reader' driven. My poetry is 'listener' driven. This one was my first one.

           A PLACE TO STAY

I’ve traveled ‘round from town to town

But now I think I’ve finally found

A place to stay.

Where people stay and kids can play

And folks take time to dream

of yesterday.

There’s idle hours and pretty flowers,

And folks just live there, happy,

From day to day…

Enjoyin’ the things that the country brings

For only those who have

No hidden dreams.

CHORUS:   I used to think

That flashy cars and midnight bars

   Made a man of me.

   But playin’ games

   With my night time flames

Just made a fool of me.

REPEAT VERSE # 2

LEAD BREAK

So movin’ fast became the past

And now I know that with it

Died a part of me.

Now mountain streams and snow—capped scenes

And new-found dreams are all I need…

To set me free.

A cheery song with a good-sense core. I love the country, so the choice would be easy for me.
