Deja Vu

Can anyone really explain the feeling of deja vu? This poem attempts to try to find an explanation to this phenomenon. I hope that somehow it will give you a better idea of deja vu but then again it might just confuse you more.

Have you ever had the feeling of deja vu?
That the place, face or situation is not new?
You can compare it to a ghost saying boo
Why you feel that way you haven't got a clue

Is it a part of you remembering?
Or is it your soul through time wandering?
The situation just leaves you pondering
If there is more to what the eye is perceiving

Why do things seems so familiar?
Should you really have to see a friar?
And be branded a fool and a liar
Trying to find an explanation for a thing so peculiar

Is it that we have been here before?
Is this life not all, is there more?
Maybe memories from other lifetimes that the soul bore
Memories from those days of yore

Or has your soul travelled to a time ahead?
Is it possible to do that when we are not dead?
Crossed the barriers of time while we lie in bed
Not a past but the future we saw instead

Do these things make sense at all?
Or is this just another of life's brick walls?
A life, an event, a face, a place that we recall
A fascinating experience that really enthralls

Does this poem look familiar to you?
Something that had once been in your view?
I assure you though that this poem is new
But then again it could be déjà vu
