This is an (uninvited) answer to a poem by Bernice Angoh. It is in no way intended as a critique of that work, in fact the opposite, as a good poem should provoke a responce (with a dash of humour and pathos in equal amounts)..A Liverpool actress, Margi Clarke said " There isn't room to get a 'ciggy' paper between us "

You say you are not defined by your smile, yet it is a beautiful smile non the less.

You say you are not defined by your breasts. I would not know your photograph does not show. Do yo have them? It matters not.

You say you are not defined by your walk. I know not of your walk I know only of you, how you talk.

You say you are not defined by your butt, but does your butt in some small (or bigger) way define you?

You say you are not defined by your ancestors, but like your freinds, do you hold tight to the higher branches of your family tree?

You say you are not defined by society. Society I belive does not exsist but it will strive to define you anyway.

You say you are not defined by who loves you. Are you not yourself the lover who defines you?

You say you are not defined by my thoughts. Yet my thoughts are all I have to help me shape my world.

You ask me an impossible question.

You ask me, who I am. Without knowing you, there is no way to define the reflection of myself I see when I look at you.
