This poem is dedicated to my neighbor of over 30 years, Jack, who died last night. He was a good hearted man with a passion for his family, Stoney Lake and carpentry.

Once More Around The Lake

Once more around the lake
Let me feel the water on my toes
As I for the last time cross the wake

One more nail to hammer
Let me finish my final creation
Let it be pronounced without stammer

One more season to coach
Let me at last be the winner
As my final day does encroach

Once more up the long hill
Carrying a lifetime in my grip
Let my heart be the legs of my will

One last time let me see the sunshine
And feel the wind across my face
And know everything that is mine

How blessed for Jack to have had a friend with a poet's heart who can honor him in such a heartwarming, genuine way as this beautiful piece. I knew from the title this poem was yours before even clicking on it, but I certainly did not anticipate the inspiration behind it. I am sorry for your loss and I am sure you will always feel Jack's spirit within the breezes that will gently blow across the Lake's still waters.

This is sad & heart rendering but a tribute to one who had brought to you respect for him and his workings. Those things will remain with you as memories to keep tucked inside to often remember and to be thankful you knew him. "No" one will ever be able to remove the imprint he left with you...think about it and be so thankful you knew him.

So sorry you neighbor has passed into eternal glory. But he is better off and now has all the time in the world to do things. His work down here on earth was finished according to his maker, our is not, we know not why or sometimes we know not why we still must abide here. Pray to God tonight and this is a good writeup for you neighbor. You will miss him but his spirit will come to you and peace will be brought to you too. It just takes time.
