still trying to iron out the last of
the wrinkles in this custom made fabric
finally got the color just right
the feel is genuine and tailored
a piece of art spun from threads
collected over time
so far from basic beginnings
thrown about haphazardly
just a bunch of patches
lying about the room
until by revelation pattern seen
connections brought into view
seam by seam
along the way
a tangle here and there
many more before than of late
light bouncing off waves that seemed
like they'd never come out ...
heat steam handwash dryclean
stubborn stubborn wrinkles
last of their kind
hangers on
trying to keep the last of
the silky smoothness to itself
the same holdup just enough
to be troublesome
like a little sticker bur caught on a sock
but pull it out and that irritation
surrenders to relief
such are these last wrinkles
lying between hemming ...
keep pressing
keep pressing
too much has been done
a creation of love it has become
waited too long for this unveiling
to give up on wrinkle free now...
to every fabric there comes wrinkles
but with the right touch
they never last
brief indentions in presentation
always remedied with the right care
read the label
gentle cycle
air dry ...
a fond farewell to wrinkles
for the threads that bind are strong
and in time will be broken-in
but remain unbroken...
the family quilt is complete
warmth and comfort guaranteed.
