A love that was not what I had envisioned.

I loved someone once
unconditionally with
all of the love that
I possessed within me.

But the love that
he professed was
so much less
than what I expressed to him.

There's no such thing
as being in love
with someone that
you hate enough to hurt.

When you don't put any
work into the relationship
but just greedily
reap all the benefits that were sown.

He had no regard for
my life or my freedom
as long as I did whatever
it took to please him.

I was given many reasons
to regain possession of my
heart that I had so freely given
to a man I found in prison.
