The Journey Home Begins with Me

I left home for 3 years

today ended

empty tears

no more

To come home

is more soothing

everything but some

A wife waits

by the gates

of hope, love, and faith

to return safely

to dancing, smiles, and love

come away to living my friend!

and loving to see through raining

to up on high and high

on wings of eagles

When I come to seal

against the fate of sudden death

My last litter unopened

going to soothe the time

away and unforgotten

But there were others

no so fortunate suns

in the dead of date and day

lives snatched

from life an not returning

Fallen comrades withstanding

the test of time and not to repeat

Take this brokenness

for this moment I arise

in homage and hope for sadness

shared by families no more

I surely sing the praises

you offered,

now I go forward

to the edge I close my eyes

to a love song so distant

of returning to your loving arms

To become one again and now

is the time too sullen

I must grow

away from your love

and now I go the song

of when I was gone

to pit of thinking

and I can see the time

mastered by all to you

O Lord

A quiet evening again

I know comes now

I know the quietness can

be slept in the sanctity

of the morning dew

I seal the time

I go forward now

homeward bound...

Powerfully penned sadness - but thank God you're coming home. Welcome home ... I saw the same interview Bill's inquiring about, and thought the same thing -

In any event, a thought provoking letter - very well done -

(((((HUGS))))) love, and THANK YOU, Karla.

Myles, your lament and celebration are so poignant... Yet so brave and confessional. I am proud to know you and to learn that you are homeward bound, at last! Your tour is the longest I've ever known about, and it is more than time it ended.

A question: Did you meet Matt Lauer, of NBC News' Today Show, recently? He had this, 'Major,' on camera with him while there the other day, and....... ?
