They've taken you away
When I thought you were here to stay
Patterns of softness and golden dreams
Although I still search for you in sleep it seems
Drifting, reflecting, so many cherished moments
Your touch, soft and firm, brown eyes like an omen
they've taken you away
When I thought you were here to stay
How can I live without you, impossible I feel
A gentle angel wings, familiar, soothing, smiling
Why did you have to leave..without you I can't breathe
Each day the motions come and go, even flow
Weaving a veil of deception everywhere I go even though
The seasons are now constant and rolling over
Seems as if you suddenly let go
As I look around, the wind and air smell of despair
Even as the newness breaks through
Smiling, even laughing, the tears are within reach
Just hiding, pretending that all is calm and right
Shadows all around me creep in and out as I sleep
They've taken you away
The reasons are not clear to me
As if in slumber my heart beats still...waiting
It fills and releases, attempts to gain in strength
Your gentle touch, your loving ways I need them to reach me
As if carried in the wind of life, it seems it lives no more
No words can describe how safe and warm your
Precious love meant to me
They've taken you away
When I thought you were always here to stay

I held my breath and felt your heart bleed through the screen. Your heart cries in this and is just beautifully written. I felt all the emotion pouring into me as I read this.

I feel in this poem, actually happened to me to. Mostly I like to hide my feelings and pretend all is calm, especially when around my daughters and granddaughters. We don't know why God takes our loves and good people, but it has to be. Getting used to it finally, but long will his memory linger with me. Good write.

The emotions seem to be very present and painful still.
The repetition in this poem enhances the feeling
of something hard to accept.

This brought tears to my eyes. How perfectly you have described losing a loved one... one that is a part of you... the waiting, the longing, the sadness, the ache...
A truly heartfelt write.

What a touching tribute. I am so sorry for your loss. May you always feel the arms of a lost loved one around you when you need it most or when you least expect it, for surely they are never more than an arms length away from your heart.

Peace be with you. Shay White
