This was written by my friend Regis Auffray and I. We each took turns every other stanza. I keep trying to tell him he can write about anything, just WRITE! SO, he did :) If you've never read him, be sure to do so:)

And though autumn came
they still looked above
for where their wings
had left their hearts
when passion flowers
opened up
beneath a golden moon

He felt a pang of pleasant pain
a thrill of uncertainty
mildly masochistic
he wondered if she would leave him
to join the skeins of wild geese
that flew across the face of the glowing orb
their plaintive calls left him
with a stirring of echoes in his soul

She remembered their calls
and how she found their feathers  in her hair
long after his touch became the wind's wildest kiss
dancing across her naked form
in the twilight of their passing embrace

Slightly high on the aroma
of golden and crimson leaves
fallen from now bare trees
he recalls her scent
her taste
her touch
he is convinced she is coming back to him
he can hear her voice
in the awakening winter wind’s sigh
his spirit is at peace

why did my mind flash to the movie LadyHawke?!) :-)I absolutely loved this!! So visual. So beautifully descriptive. The concept as well. A "friend" and i did the same via text. The exchanges a bit more personal so i don't know if he'd appreciate me sharing with the world! But what a rush it was! I hope you and Regis (who has been lovely and generous with his reviews of my works, humbling for me as i read his vast and much admired selections!) enjoyed writing this as much as i enjoyed reading! Michelle - Thanks for sharing! Ciao4now, Cherise

It is always thrilling to read a poem that was written by more than one author. It is fascinating when the reader discovers the unity of style and content, while looking for the personal touch. Doubt and certainty are nicely expressed in this work.

Fabulous counterbalance in this piece and the whole is strongly welded - I would not have guessed it was the work of two minds and hearts. You complement each other well and meld in a mutually sympathetic way. I sense that you have given each other much support and consideration in the writing of this beautiful and meaningful poem, adjusting your styles to combine. A lovely allegory with much spiritual and emotional depth! Well done! :)) Kate xx
