I Know Your Heart...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I Still Believe In You
By La Belle Rouge
When I woke up this morning
the first thing my eyes focused on
was the gift you gave me long ago.
The straw picture hat on the wall
covered in delicate lace and dried flowers.
You made it with your own hands;
a gift of love for your friend
Tears filled my eyes, I miss you.
You stumbled though youth,
lost custody of your beloved son
then you married one who had lost
his young wife to a murderer.
Three children you lovingly raised.
His not yours, yet more yours than his.
How you loved and protected those children.
You were an inspiring mother
They told me, after the children
were grown and left home, you left him
for another man, and another.
They said you were no good
but I know you are good, sad, confused
like I’ve been many times. Right or wrong
I know deep inside you are a good person.
I stayed, you left, does that make
either of us of no worth?
I wish I could see you again
we’d talk for hours like before
sharing soul to soul, laughter and tears
like we so often did back when
we thought my son and your daughter
would one day make us inlaws.
I wonder if you are still admiring gifts
I gave you, remembering, missing me
your very human, imperfect friend.
I miss you Dear One, I still believe in you
So sad. Lost friends you can never find, who have moved on and didn't leave us behind but life just happened to take them down a different path. Sad. Many memories evoked here. Beautiful poem. Liz
Oh what a beautiful Victorial photograph! Very touching, reaching a part of the human spirit that many keep well hidden. Keeping loved ones close at heart though long removed is a spiritual gift in and of itself....
Be always safe,
Karen
And I will always believe in YOU, too, Darlin Belle. Your heart knows of nothing but love and compassion and grace. I can quite believe that this poem speaks truth. You must be a fiercely loyal friend and a forceful advocate and mainstay. You have such unconditional giving and concern in your veins. Quite right: who is anyone to judge another's heart by circumstance? May the heart's desire you express here be abundantly granted that your joy may be complete. Bless you, Darlin. Hope you're well. Love the togetherness of sharing tea each other in the photo. I love to sit down with someone and reminisce about the past and go onto looking into the futures. Your friend surely does remember you at times. You are so sweet to have forgiveness for what your friend has done to her marriage and never look at her wrongdoing as a willful act. She is remembered with love and by this write. **********
Belief in a friend, and standing by them, no matter what, is truly a marvelous thing, La Belle.
If one close the eyes and look through the accumulated memories, the few that make us happy, the voice's friend which we liked to hear, the friendly jabs, the jokes and the sorrows shared...if one open the eyes and that friend isn't there, that yearning hurts.
That friend should take contact, and understand that you are worth the effort.
I can feel the love and longing in this, Belle, very lovely poem in honor of your lost friend.
You should try and locate her, perhaps she is longing to see you too!
Peace, love, and light,
Absent friends are often the dearest and closest to the heart as this poem so lovingly and poignantly expresses. I have had many friends in my life but only a few "friends" some are gone now...passed on, others have moved or drifted apart but they all live in my memories and heart. You captured all of that so well.
