“We Need Safe,

Environmentally Friendly,

Offshore Drilling,

Right Now!”

President George W. Bush,

Presidential Candidate

Senator John McCain,

And Many Other ‘Leaders’

We’re about to decimate Alaska

And now pump up all the oil there

We might as well ruin our coastlines

Hell, we’ll just start drillin everywhere

And, just like in once natural pristine Alaska

There’s about three years’ worth offshore, too

So, after three years of soon ruining both places

Just what the hell will our so called ‘leaders’ do?

We’re all gonna still be payin even higher gasoline prices

When we go fill up our vehicles, at those gasoline pumps

And by then, when all of us crawl to work every rush hour

We can gaze out our windows, at our new coastline dumps

And ten years from now, when we're all still slaves

To our massive American ‘Foreign Oil Dependency’

We will all be payin at least ten dollars for one gallon

Thanks to our excellent leaders – from sea to oily sea

But now, they say that they’ve already gleefully discovered

A few years worth of oil, under our majestic Rocky Mountains

Hell, it's gotta be worth leveling our once revered mountains, too

With ‘leaders’ like these, America’s addiction to oil, will never end

For the past quarter century,

Drilling for both gas and oil off most of America’s coastlines

Has been banned to prevent environmentally disastrous spills;

But our leaders now very diligently hope to change all of that.

The President and many other politicians,

Believe that we shouldn’t waste any more time.

But in their fine speeches,

They will neglect to mention,

That we’ve already wasted,

At least the last 30 or 40 years,

In Very Diligently, Not Pursuing,

Any Alternative Energy Technology.

And I’m sure they won’t bother to mention,

That now drilling and decimating our coastlines,

Will not end, our now endless, foreign oil dependency.

I agree with much of what you say Ed, but I do believe after hearing a full discussion by outsiders of all parties that off-shore drilling could be beneficial. If China and other countries are drilling off our coast and getting oil, why can't we? We don't have to touch the other protected sites, but off-shore could by some new estimates make us free of needing oil frrom the Arab countries that want to destroy us. I hope we can find a way to get the truth out from all leaders who don't play it for political gain, but for the sake of our nation. we need to hear the truth, I pray we get it! Thanks Ed...TL

Amen, Edward. I believe the operative word you might have used with the question "what will they do?" might have been "screw" to create a poetic rhyme. To put it grossly, they are screwing off our chance for true independence and truly doing something. Don't stop with Bush and McCain, the new clown in the circus, Obama, thinks he can do it by spreading wealth through taxes, another do-nothing strategy. Before I burst a kidney to truly spread the wealth here, I invite you as a kindred spirit to see my latest article on AD under land use...Jerry, the foul but well meaning. Maybe the Chinese will put the Arabs all in tennis shoes, and rescue us through the new world order.

Your passionate words ring true, yet drilling off our coast line continues under Foreign flags so the way I see it, we are doomed regardless of what we do or don't do.....

Be always safe,

Amen, amen, amen!

LNG is now on the cusp of being made a reality in the Columbia River, Oregon side, and after the facility is up and running the people that head up this comapany will shut it down in 10-15 years.

There is no leadership, period.

Oil Barons, and or, their lobbiest, care not two cents for alternativ energy, when these resources run out, or are greatly dimished, they then maybe act in panic, it's starting now, it's not necessarely new technology we need only, but using some more ancient, as your Indian friends, or the Spaniards, Morrocans, etc, used a millenia ago. Green roofs, wide verandas, overhanging canopies, foilage around the house, less pavement( less oil, less heat to cool) when I lived in California in the sixties, it struck me that miles of wooden structures had sometimes two airconditioners running, while the old spanish stucco with wide cool verandas had none at all, in large, what it says, "if there is plenty let's waste it. enaugh said. Bless your Soul, keep up the pressure! Jasmin Horst

Now, leaders in Europe are dreaming of "clean" coal burning! ! !
As I said before going to hell in a first class basket.

They're going to do what they want, never mind what the people want - look at the Texas Gulf Coast, how ugly it is now - the water in Galveston is BROWNISH GREY - water should not be brownish grey - tragic! And I wanted to see Alaska, because I heard it's beautiful, and now I can't - tragic!!!!

Ed, you do present a valid argument and it is surely frightening to think what is likely to come from the attempts to correct this travesty of having to pay more than $4.00 a gallon for gas. Something does need to be done, but there surely is a better solution than destroying our natural landscape, habitat and wildlife.
