“We Need Safe,
Environmentally Friendly,
Offshore Drilling,
Right Now!”
President George W. Bush,
Presidential Candidate
Senator John McCain,
And Many Other ‘Leaders’
We’re about to decimate Alaska
And now pump up all the oil there
We might as well ruin our coastlines
Hell, we’ll just start drillin everywhere
And, just like in once natural pristine Alaska
There’s about three years’ worth offshore, too
So, after three years of soon ruining both places
Just what the hell will our so called ‘leaders’ do?
We’re all gonna still be payin even higher gasoline prices
When we go fill up our vehicles, at those gasoline pumps
And by then, when all of us crawl to work every rush hour
We can gaze out our windows, at our new coastline dumps
And ten years from now, when we're all still slaves
To our massive American ‘Foreign Oil Dependency’
We will all be payin at least ten dollars for one gallon
Thanks to our excellent leaders – from sea to oily sea
But now, they say that they’ve already gleefully discovered
A few years worth of oil, under our majestic Rocky Mountains
Hell, it's gotta be worth leveling our once revered mountains, too
With ‘leaders’ like these, America’s addiction to oil, will never end
For the past quarter century,
Drilling for both gas and oil off most of America’s coastlines
Has been banned to prevent environmentally disastrous spills;
But our leaders now very diligently hope to change all of that.
The President and many other politicians,
Believe that we shouldn’t waste any more time.
But in their fine speeches,
They will neglect to mention,
That we’ve already wasted,
At least the last 30 or 40 years,
In Very Diligently, Not Pursuing,
Any Alternative Energy Technology.
And I’m sure they won’t bother to mention,
That now drilling and decimating our coastlines,
Will not end, our now endless, foreign oil dependency.
