Ever silent flow the waters
as they feast upon the land
showing us it doesn't matter
if they choose to take command

I watch the waters as they rise
no longer gaping with surprise
I see them coming ever nearer
trying to stem the tides of fear

I do not want to leave my home
there is no place I wish to roam
but the water now past my knees
is no time for nerves to freeze

Dare I try to risk standing fast
let the water eat me for breakfast
I think that as ny eyes grow dim
my tears will have a place to swim

Alas, I'm aware safety is near
saved with just the clothes I wear
everything I own, now under water
just call me Davy Jones daughter

etw-2008

note: For Karen, this is not about me, I live in sunny California where I seldom see rain let alone a flood;-)

HOW SAD, BUT HOW REAL. FOR WE KNOW, FROM THE THE DEVASTATION IN LA, THAT THIS SORT OF THING CAN SURELY HAPPEN. THANKS FOR SHARING AND GOD BLESS YOU. LOVE, JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

With the water rising
Soon to follow will be the prices
(As if there not high enough already)
I don't know if St Louis has been hit yet?
Then there's Memphis
Who knows what kind of pollution is headed for the Gulf of Mexico

No, it may not be about you, but there are people who are being savaged by the awful flooding which is occuring . . . Floods are a creeping disaster, and this one will take an enormous toll, much, much more than Katrina or Rita took . . . The news media, of course do not give it the same attention as they did the two storms down here . . . Anybody wanna guess why? . . . Very well constructed poetry, Eileen . . .

Water, water everywhere in the mid section of the states, too bad its not safe to drink, or even bathe in...that is a bad situation & in a few months they will be complaining of a drought situation just as it is everywhere in summer months...Ed

Yet more tragic flooding, and yet more misery. I truly hope this latest group of flood victims gets mucher faster help and relief than previous victims have.

Those poor people. What a struggle they are enduring. Everything is shaking now, and so many of our crops are being destroyed. They are saying now that 20% of the corn crop may be gone. Sobering insight.

Hope this is fiction; scary to see the waters rising, with no end in sight! You are in my prayers/thoughts, sweetie!
