The Tree of Wisdom sat alone
Abundant with the fruit of life
With one exception:
A juicy plump apple shining in the sunlight
Eve, walking by, with hunger pains in her belly
Catches the apple out of the corner of her eye
She approaches the massive tree
With salivating mouth, she reaches up
Licking her lips, she lets her fingers caress the apple’s
smooth skin
Ignoring the babbling serpent as she gently tugs
She’s hungry, nothing more
Adam isn’t back from fishing yet
As what the hell is this snake babbling about anyways?
In triumph, her hand returns
Proudly holding her prize
Contemplating whether or not should share with Adam
And, speaking of the Devil, here he comes
Seems the fish weren’t biting today
She bites into the apple to test it
Letting the sourness spread through her mouth
Spitting out pieces of worm
Adam reaches for her shoulder, caressing her softness
She holds the apple to his mouth, and he bites
With a full mouth telling the serpent to shut up
What the hell is he babbling about?
Shrugging shoulders, they walk away
Adam reaching his arm around Eve’s waist
Felling for the first time in his life a sudden chill
And the fact that everywhere were eyes
Looking at him, and his woman, in their nakedness
