"Bats are among the most beautiful and gentle animals on earth. They are vital to the ecosystem and enhance our lives in many ways. Insect eating bats eat millions of bugs nightly, and fruit bats bring us approximately 450 commercial products. Yet for all they do, bats are continually killed due to myths, superstition and fear." (~Bat World Sanctuary)

Binky
by Ted L Glines

Binky is a bat
not your ordinary bat
he likes to eat bananas
and fruit like that
fruit bat cute bat
hanging in the trees
sharing all the gossip
and a thousand glees
sleeps all day
and cruises the night
comes at Halloween
to give you a “fright”
he flies above the forest
straight and true
a social kind of guy
he'll even hug you
kidnapped and caged
no chance to refuse
he was damaged and hurt
in American zoos

the folks at Bat World
came to his aid
all volunteer
by love - they are paid

he'll never fly again
in his African home
he'll remain in Texas
and never more roam
but he's so well cared for
by his Bat World friends
giving love and kindness
'til his bat-life ends.

I lOVE BATS! and HE sure is a SWEETIE!
I have many picts. (atleast 10) in my documt.s Ted!
There is something about them, we all just don't understand till we look further into their living habits!
WE have a bat house attached to the back of our house!
I look forward to seeing the little black ones fly by at night, when I take a nightly swim...Don't tell anyone, I talk to them...OH well.. I'm silly but I appreciate them! They are a Natural BLESSING! from above.. I will be in that sight!
Thank you for sharing SWEET Teddie!
WRITE ON!!

So, can you ask Binky which one in his family was the one that visited Hell, because I have heard so much about getting away faster than "like a bat flying out from hell"?

We love them up here in Canada and most farms, cottages, and rural houses put up bat houses for them... more bats less bugs.

I love his grin and his eyes - didn't think bats could be so cute! I'd rather not be hugged (or hug) one, though - something inhererently ... creepy ... in that *nervous laughter* Still and all, Ted, all creatures, including bats, need love. :) Say "Howdy" to Binky for me. Well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
