Light blue crystal morning

Is it four or five o’clock in the morning?
What day is it?
Where are we?
Does it matter?
Dawn breaks, half-light is on its way
A light blue crystal morning – as its shards,
Reveries, abstract kaleidoscopes,
Pierce the haze of the night before.
Sometimes, nights spin out of control,
Fall to earth in flames.
Flames extinguish overnight;
Sleep, the fire blanket of time
Sweeps over all –
As light blue crystal morning
Comes around again.
Written in August 2002 while returning on a long-distance coach from London to Devon, UK. I had Sheryl Crow's 'Weather Channel' at the back of my mind while writing - not so much the song itself, but more what I call the misty early morning mood that listening to the song always evokes.
