The River Song

By: Felix L. Perry

G                                              C

You know that river keeps on rolling

G                                              C

Those salt tides still wash the shore

And that old sun comes up each morning

        C                                  G

But you don’t live here anymore, and

        C                                              G

The preacher…still preaches each Sunday

         C                                      G

And those church bells always ring

I still hang… my head in sorrow

          C                       G         C  G   C  G

Each time that choir sings

G                                          C

At night I see the stars still shining

          G                       C

I still feel the breezes blow

The mountains rise in the distance

C                                  G

So why’d you have to go…(chorus)

G                                          C

Today I’ll walk down to the river

G                                                   C

Just before the next tide…hits the shore

Before the sun…comes up tomorrow

C                                           G

I’ll join again with you once more…(chorus)

G                                             C

You know that river keeps on rolling…….

                         G                     C

You know that river keeps on rolling……

                         G                     C

You know that river keeps on rolling……

                          D                  G         C        G

cause you don’t live here anymore

Fee--As the lucky one who actually got to hear this melody, the words complete it so well. You lament so well and this is one of your best. Just pure wailing.
Love the package.
