                                                 Far Away Eyes

Those far away eyes beckoning, taunting,
Sizzeling with pride like dancing emeralds flaunting
As if to mock my skill as a stocker

All fingers twitchin' on my stiffened rod
Those eyes draw closer through the dusky fog
Soon she'll be in my grasp

Suddenly the battle begins, pecks slashing
Water bursting, veins poppin, body thrashing
                      Time for the final task

Those far away eyes now dulled and broken
Like a blackened whisper faintly spoken
I had to give her back to the sea

Watching her swim off after this epic fight
I thought oh well, no fresh bluefin tonight
But I'de also set myself free

A truly amazing read Kev. Reading it puts us there, right where the epic battle between predator and pray is taking place. And the feelings of both are clearly worded (far away eyes now dull and broken). I feel like I just read The old man and the sea again.
I for one am truly impressed with your abilities, all bullshit aside.
Thanks, Glen
