read the damn thing.

America I've been up all night
with thoughts of you.

America we haven't spoken much
lately but I think we both know it can't go on
like this much

America I saw you on television
last night and I had to turn it off.

America I remember back in school
they used to make us pledge allegience to your flag.
We stood by our desks and recited
words we didn't
understand just like they used to make us do
in church.

I think about it now and it makes me angry.

America it's no use trying to talk to you.
America quit trying to seduce me with
I liked you better without your
car alarms and cellular
America I'm not listening to you

America I saw what you did to my parents.
You've never once said you were sorry.
For anything.

America I wish you would just stop for a moment and listen
to yourself.
America you are crazier than me.
America when will you stop blaming
videogames and the poor?

America your kids are only
your example.

America I have no more songs to sing for you.

America come out from behind your flag for a minute
and talk to me.
America where would you be without your guns?
What exactly is it
you are afraid of?
America you can only build so many prisons.

America you need to take a long look in the mirror.
America you need some therapy.
America I would like to help you but first you must admit
you have a problem.

America my self help book tells me this is an
abusive relationship.

America I know there is a part of you that is
trying, America, I know you are only
but sooner or later you're going to have to take
responsibility for your

America to be quite honest I don't think I
love you
It's not that I don't care it's just that it
hurts too much.

America I'm going to shut up now cos I know
you're not really

America now that I've gotten this off my chest
maybe I can get some
I'd like to say we could still be friends
but you know how that sort of thing
