a relationship compared to one of the seasons

Last night I had a dream

And in it nothing was what it was to seem

I was standing next to a very large tree

With a rake in my hand and a jacket for the breeze

Only thing was that no leaves were on the ground

Not one to be found

I threw my rake up, but only it came down

True, as crazy as it sounds

It’s time for them to fall

The time is passing for them to move on

But they won’t fall

It’s like I’m stuck in this season

As I want to move on, I don’t for some reason

Suddenly the tree asks me what I want

My eyes fell downwards and sunk

Looked up and said I want to clean these leaves

Its time for change, you can feel it in the breeze

It’s a little chilly and as I sneeze

The leaves change color from green, to orange, to yellow

They make a nice pile soft as a pillow

The tree gets bare and I start to rake

Think for a second if I made a mistake

But the decision was really made for me

I didn’t place myself in front of that tree

Got ‘em all and time to leave

But there is one last leaf

Getting to it will cause a lot of grief

But as I think back it will never fall down

Though I raked the other memories that one will never make me frown
