Tanka

Dark Green the lizard

In it’s Gold tint cactus home.

Tan desert sands with

White flecked Blue sky overhead,

Nature’s color Smorgasbord.

My late hubby Tom Christensen, also from NJ like you, took me to Bermuda in 1997 and we saw a lizard on the wall outside the dining room of Hotel Belmont. The Belmont has been torn down too, but it was his father's favorite place to stay when visiting Bermuda. Tom wanted me to see it too. This lizard poem reminded me of that vacation with Tom, never to be taken again with him He is dead now.
