Sock it to Me!

Okay, Okay we've all thunk it why not say it!

Oh Gee I don't mean to complain my friends, but my granddaughter just pointed out that I have 42,800 hits and 2,359 reviews which is awesome but to her, that also means 40,331 people don't like me. That sure wasn't a real morale booster is it now? Kind of makes ya think huh!

Sock it to Me!

What does it take to get some reviews around here?
Does it take some serious debating or quite a few beer?
I get a bunch of hits on each and every poem I write,
But only my dear little faithful ones leave reviews on my site.

Do you just check-in at the site for something fun to do?
If you don’t like that one, try another, I‘ve got quite a few.
Why would you leave me without letting me know?
What you thought of the poem, you just simply go!

I know you were here because you leave your mark.
But I will keep on writing at my computer, I’ll start.
Until I find something that finally brings you delight.
Then you can sock it to me, so I can sleep tonight.

I can take condemnation I really can, I prove it everyday.
By putting my crazy thoughts out there, to hear what people say.
Oh sure,
I’d like to hear positive things but you can say the negative too.
I can take it, I really can, and I won’t take retribution on you.

I won’t even hang myself, for I’d value your honest critique.
I may get a violent headache and feel miserably weak.
But I can handle it; I promise you, I won’t get angry or sad.
So go ahead, sock it to me; just don’t leave and go away mad.

Bonnie May

I think there are a variety of reasons for the disparity in numbers...
I know that I sometimes can't think of anything that doesn't sound trite, or other times I just want to relax and read as Connie said. In one of my reviews, I was told that it was the sixth time he had read the poem. It made me realize that I could have repeat readers over several days or even weeks. At least I hop that is the case! hee, hee...
At any rate, don't get down on yourself. We all love your sense of humor and your poetry!

GUILTY AS CHARGED.
Oh, yes, Bonnie, I often read poems without comment. I might be weary, and reading while I relax and wind down, too tired to think of words for a comment. Might be trying to "grab a few" poems when I only have a few minutes to spare. Might even be so moved by the poem that I can't find it in me to comment at the time. Sometimes I go back later and then comment.
Just stick to your goals in writing; keep your eyes on that desire within that drives your writing. Write for the pleasure of writing!
Don't stop!

Love,
Connie

Bonnie Bonnie Bonnie...you sure are sitting on your funny bone today.
Over 42000 is a respectable sum, but the ones that count are those that raise their heads to be counted, two and a half thousand of them, if you were a penguin winter couldn't touch you with so many around.

POW, right in the eye! Ouch. Write, just because you can. In rhyme, yet. With a message, yet. With gentle, self depreciating humor, yet!! O, to write like you. ANYhoo. So if no one reviews: if they're reading, objective MET. (Still, would be nice if someone reads, if they stop in and say so. Only polite. My big gripe, too!) Well said, and hope the eye feels better.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

LOL, I need a laugh! I always love to read your poems :) I agree on the criticism, as long as it is constructive, but yet, sometimes we all write things for fun and dont really care about criticism, so it is a fine line. We love you just as you are :)

Too true. I think many of us [myself included] wonder why folks don't leave a note of thumbs up or thumbs down. Reviews are often the spark that leads to a poem. Still ........ I'm glad that folks read what I write even if their time is so limited that they can't leave a note. Take care, my dear.

God bless you. Kathy [PS: it was nice of your granddaughter to have her face made up just for you.....chuckle,chuckle]

Bonnie it is like that for everybody. My hits are hundreds of thousands and my reviews are less than ten thousand, but I´m still happy with it because a good number of people devoted their time to stop by, read my work and leave a review. Always with you, enjoying your poetry and scribbling a comment!

Hey Sugar! I guess you are like me, Read by the silent majority! I am read a lot, but get few reviews. I have loyal readers that read all my stuff and I value them like gold, but when it all boils down, I truly write for me and if someone likes what I write, well, that is an added blessing! I have just discovered you and will read more!
