I opened my email box

The other day

When I logged into

And a simple message

Left me scrambling for the words

To create a poem

He said

"Could you write

A poem for me

On my people

The "Cherokee"

Of course I agreed

Praying the words would flow

But I find myself

Staring at the blank page

Why the words have failed me.

I love have expressed a simple, everyday thought so well...a slice of life.

Hi Michelle,

You have a talent of telling life as it is. This is wonderful, but it won't go over well with many, and some of those who agree with you will be too afraid to comment, for they want the worlds love and affirmation.

Now about this poem, maybe if this person told you something about themselves, or gave you a slice of their life, you could do it. However, many people find it extremely hard to do this. They don't realize that we all have similar problems and that theirs aren't that much different from yours or mine.

I can do it, if a person shares something personal about themselves, for example my poem about Marlene. She tried to console me by telling that she survived ten years after having breast cancer, then she died two years later of it. She touch me by sharing something personal about herself, and I was able to write a poem to console her family.

Hang in there and best wishes.

A friend,

I had a lot of offers to write for others through a freelancing site, but I have never got any inspiration when given a topic.

It is very hard to write for others, for poetry is our inner voice, it comes from within our hearts and souls. We won't be able to feel another's heart and soul when we write for another.

That is why I had to turn most of them down.

Know one thing in Cherokee: Wado (or sometimes, Wadan): thank you. LOL Hmmmm. Karen is right, research them, the Trail of Tears: know you can do it. :) Well done!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Excellent write, but you need to do some research on the Cherokee people or ask around, to see if they know anything. I don't know much about the Cherokee heritage myself, I'm sorry to say, but I find the Native American culture totally fascinating! Very well penned!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D

It's hard to write for another person, especially about of culture you don't know. Well written and thought provoking.
