One White Hair

You can never forget someone you loved who's with you no more, even a cat.

He saw the carrier and took off like the wind
I saw his long gray tail under the bed.
I finally pulled him out, he fought me
like a wild cat, but I finally got him in the box.
We drove to the vet, he cursed all the way.
If he were human, I’m not sure I’d want to know
what he could say.
We got to the place, I opened up the box,
he ran out as fast as he dared.
I started to shut the carrier, than one thing caught my eye

It was a small thing, just one snow white hair,
A hair that belonged to my beloved cat that died
I put it in the palm of my hand,  holding it with care.
I hung my head and began to cry.
