The Littlest Angel
The littlest angel in the heavenly choir
Solemnly plucked at her golden lyre
Wondering how she had come to be
When none were as misdirected as she.
The littlest angel with wings askew
Always late for whatever she’d do
Always lopsided or backwardly dressed
Her halo crooked, her gown poorly pressed.
The littlest angel in the heavenly choir
Dreamed of one day rising even higher
But knew that it could never ever be
For she sang her notes too often off key.
The littlest angel in the heavenly choir
Cried and cried as she strummed her lyre
But stopped in mid cord as a voice she heard
God had been listening to her every word.
"Oh littlest angel in my heavenly choir
Of watching and hearing you I never tire
You’re my littlest angel, my imperfect one,
For seeking perfection is to reach for the sun.
"Oh littlest angel, I love you even more
For you try so hard and for that I adore
You make me laugh in a special way
You bring the sun on my darkest day.
"Oh littlest angel in my heavenly choir
Never extinguish your innocence fire
Sing now and forever as only you can
For you’re a big part of my heavenly plan."
