Sometimes we just have to learn to forgive...

My Kindegarten Picture Sept.1983

As a little girl

Daddy was my hero

At two and a half

When I took those first

Awkward

Steps

I tried to walk in his shoes

Litterally.

As I grew older

Our relationship

Became more strained

He became more

Inappropriate

And Daddy was no

Longer my hero

And anger and bitterness

Made me a miserable teen.

I carried the pain

Deep within

But I carried.

It wasnt until several years ago

About eight I believe

That I opened my heart to forgiveness

And took the anger and bitterness

From my vocabulary

Sometimes

It slips in

And I for a brief moment

Question myself

But the Lord has shown me

The power to forgive

And I learned what I knew

As a little girl

Trying to walk

In Daddies shoes

But this time

The shoes I try

To walk in

Are that of my Heavenly Father.
