I have been doing a lot here lately to help other organizations make a better Christmas for so many needy. I guess I have made several trips to the Dollar stores and can't get over the beautiful warm mitts and hats and scarves I can purchase for only a dollar and share with so many that are cold and have no one to turn to this time of the year. So my mind is stuck on the love we carry and how to make someone else happy.
I say if we can afford a coffee , we can afford to make a difference in one life at a time.

A Beautiful Christmas
November 18, 2008
By: Rose Marie Rideout

The streets have gone to silence,
Even the poor has laid their heads to rest.
Tonight Santa remembers all,
Each year he’s put to test.
The list get larger every year,
No one wishes for peace and love,
No one takes the time to remember,
We celebrate Baby Jesus birthday up above.

How many think of our loved ones away,
Who give their all for us this day,
The hungry who are homeless and alone,
With no food and no place to call home.
No comfy pillow, no blanket to hug,
Just an old dampened box, and no one to love.
The beauty we see on the streets every year,
The lights and the soft glow glitter we share.

Just give a dollar, a pair of old worn gloves,
A scarf you don’t wear to show off your love.
The smiles and laughter show that we care,
If we’d take time to wipe away another’s  tear.
Buy an extra coffee along your way,
Reach out to a homeless cold person this day.
Let them see someone really do care,
Stop them before they shed another tear.

A pair of wool socks that sat in your drawer,
A coat that’s just not your style anymore,
It can keep another one warm from the cold,
Your heart will be happy inside I’m told.
Close your eyes and thank God up above,
For helping you know the meaning of love,
For making a difference to someone today,
By sharing a little throughout your day.

Many times the cries of the poor in this life become muffled and drowned out by the partying of some who have plenty. You have passed a microphone to those who usually have little or no voice, and have amplified their cries through your poem! and The Lord said, "Whatever you have done for the least of these, you have done it unto me"

So very true. It is so important to remember the less fortunate than us. This season of love should be shared with those that have no one to love them. Very good advice I hope many will heed.

The warmth of compassion and the light of love all come shining through. The best part of Christmas is truly in the giving, not the receiving and helping those in need. God bless you always....

Rose--whenever they had toy drives, we would have a garage sale and then I would let they boys buy whatever they wanted to donate. They always enjoyed trying to outdo the other with how many things they could get with their money. With them grown and gone I hadn't thought of that in a long time.

Thanks for the reminder. Time to get our giving bone in gear.

You're not only wonderful, you're cute too.

Love ya--RaeLynn

We who have been blessed with much should share with our less fortunate brothers and sisters. I dropped off a turkey yesterday at my parish outreach center for the needy. I remember when I needed a hand and God provided one for me and my family.

Excellant write dear Cuz and great timing and even those who can't afford to give in money or gifts...time is often a precious commodity and doing things like working in food banks, soup kitchens and even manning the Salvation Army kettles goes a long way to helping others enjoy the season.

You are going about so far this time of year doing good deeds. Oh , that many would think and share like you do. I know my hubby always gave a person a dollar at the Turkey Hill Store if they looked needy. He was so generous and now in heaven above is getting his reward. You will be rewarded for the work you do here on earth to help the homeless and poor ones too. Great thinking and greatest write.
