A Child

A child running,
scared from neglect?
Born to poverty,
to these streets,
burdened by
dirty cheeks,
ragged cloths,
one loaf of bread
to last
a week.
A child stumbling,
tripped or just clumsy?
How can we deny
such a sad face,
feebly wandering
one step at a time?
A child crying,
from pain, or pure sorrow?
Isolation
no destination,
darkness falls
shadows loom
hide and seek
is merely
a childish game.
A child singing
does anyone hear?
Shuffle by
over looked.
Amazing Grace
how sweet the
sound,
God hear my
silent plea!
A child wandering
alone, or confused?
One day, two days
sit and ponder
where is mommy?
I'm so hungry,
is she lost?
It's been long past a week.
A child cries out to the night,
frightened, or abandoned?
A loss of innocence
taken tonight,
a hunger
quenched
by pure delight.
A stranger
beckoned her
I'll save your life.
A child scorned,
with hatred for the night.
Taken from her
A beauty
instilled,
her innocence
her reason to live
ashamed,
from the filth
crawling upon her skin
water unable to wash
away the sin.
A child......
Never to be.
For all is changing
with every breath,
now begins
a new venture
a new way of life
just like mother,
taught from
knowledge
passed down the line
this way of
street play.
A death warrant
signed tonight.
A child....
So innocent and frail.
Wrong words
wrong direction
so easy to stray.
Can they be reached,
or be simply forgotten?
Easily swept away
no longer a problem.
One moment spent
to contemplate a plan
survival
is just a stand.
A child ... so lost
to this world
no kindergarten,
no Sunday school,
no picnic lunches,
no playing dress up,
no presents at
Christmas,
no birthday
wishes,
only
streets,
lights,
cars
racing by.
A sadness
unknown.
A child...
I pray for
to love
and nurture.
God hear my
silent cry.
"My child"
a voice
I hear
there are
many children
I have sent
you.
This child
Can you only see?
The blessing
right before
your eyes?
Do unto
this child
bring her up
as your very own.
Watch her blossom
watch her beam.
Love is
magic,
it heals
the deepest
scars. |
