“Pardon Me,” the Turkey Cried!

I couldn't leave you with sadness, not on this special day, I wanted to make you smile. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you and many, many blessings.

“Pardon Me,” the Turkey Cried!

“Pardon me,” the turkey cried as his head was on the chopping block.

There are plenty of turkeys out there, you have a colossal flock.

Why not take one of them, how did I get to be the chosen one?

Is it because I eat way too much or that I’m too fat to run?

Oh no my dear old turkey, that’s not the reason for your fate.

It’s the fact that someone out there wants you on their plate.

They don’t want lamb, pig or cow, so you are the chosen one.

Now cheer up my turkey friend, in three hours you’ll be done!

Bonnie May

It has an excellent satire's root and symbolism. It could be enlarged to be a political satiric poem.

I have enjoyed the reading of "Pardon Me, the Turkey Cried!" for its contents, wit, symbolism and satire.

In admiration,
