I could sit in silence just to be near you

to watch you move, and hear your sighs

to see the suns reflection in your eyes

and taste from your lips the morning dew.

Yes, I could in silence sit just gazing upon you.

I could sit in silence watching nature play with you,

your golden tresses dancing, tossed by morning air

to see each strand lift and fall as wind goes through your hair.

and witness how even nature you truly can subdue.

Yes, I could in silence sit just gazing upon you.

Jealously, I could sit in silence as you read a book,

Wishing I were the pages that your gaze was perusing

Feeling your caressing touch as you turned each leaf - tantilizing! Hearing your tender reactions as only you can do,

Yes, I could in silence sit just gazing upon you.

I could in silence sit just to be with you

and be near as you silently lay sleeping

watching how some harmless dream was the reason for your weeping

gently kissing from your cheek those salty tears of dew

Oh, Yes!  I could in silence sit just gazing upon you.

Now, I sit in silence ... with only the memory of you.

Such beautiful words. I felt my heart racing as I got to the end and then my chest tightens "now, I sit in silence with only the memory of you." I liked that this poem made me feel that way.

So sweet and loving, and then a tinge of pain at the end.
In the end is it only the memories that we really only have...
Great writing.

That ending, just grips the heart. This is really well-written, and so so beautiful.
