...Inspired by a painting as it stole me to its core. Good art should be able to whisk you away with it... |

Giuseppe painted a scene, white
walls brought to life with languid
strokes of color.
An Italian memory softly lit
by a painted sun.
Yawning windows
let out whispers
from dimly lit rooms,
as the occupants egress
like quiet thoughts,
evaporating-
Forgotten kisses
from the painting's lips.
Trellises line each balcony,
nurturing playfully dotted
flowers that liven the street,
while a cool breeze tickles
the curtains into fits of laughter.
Behind those lavender curtains,
forever frozen, dancing
a soft rhythm, hips swaying
to the beat of my own brush,
a lovely young woman calls
out.
I am listening,
falling deep beyond his brush,
landing on a distant riparian-
sipping coffee, legs crossed,
sitting outside that Italian cafe
just around the corner from that
distant, painted building.
