Taking a Journey
I’m going to take a long journey
To wonderful places I’ve never been
I’m going to meet interesting people
And try to make at least one friend.
I’m going to immerse myself in pleasure
Enjoy my experience with its highs and lows
Will I fall in love with some handsome bloke?
Anything is possible—who knows?
I’m going to join in available activities
Jogging, swimming, walking and dining
Or perhaps I’ll go to parties and balls
Where folks are dancing, drinking and opining.
I might even get involved in some conflicts
Take sides with those I admire
I might find some folks intolerable
Their attitudes and behaviors too dire.
The suspense of each and every minute
Will keep my interest keen and high
Until I finish my journey—from my recliner
And close my book with a satisfied sigh.
